Perfect bag for me!
After a lifelong aversion to wheeled luggage, I decided that wheels would give me more flexibility for ground transportation. I travel regularly from NY to Tokyo, and I prefer to be able to use trains without being dependent on taxis (just a personal preference as taxis are plentiful in both cities). I have a great Tumi garment bag which is sturdy, light, and easy to pack -- but fully loaded it has become too much for me to haul any distance. My first thought was to buy a wheeled garment bag, but once I looked at a few (Tumi, B&R, Victorinox) I realized that the width would be an issue for city streets and trains; and then when I discovered that gliders also come with an internal hanging garment capability, I focused on bags like this one. As a long-haul road warrior, I also have one more unusual preference -- I prefer to check my baggage so that I can take a full set of toiletries without having to deal with carry-on security. Best luggage around!
I've been a loyal Boyt customer for over 5 years. I fly about 100 plus segments a year - this luggage stands up and their warranty is tops. I just got this mid size to supplement my collection. I take the small roller every trip - you can't go wrong with Boyt!
Very Well Designed Suitcase, With One Small Flaw
I like this suitcase very much. The size is excellent for one person on a five-day trip packing a couple of suits or for two people going on a two day or so trip. As with other Boyt suitcases the build quality is extremely high. (It has a lifetime warranty.) There are well thought out pockets inside. The hold-down strap that keeps contents in place is adjustable and works very well. The built-in although removable garment bag works well although it is also a poor design in one way - more on this below. It holds garments easily and well, using your own hangers. Wire hangers work very well.
The suitcase is lightweight yet sturdy. The front panel opens on three sides so items that are not too thick may be stored for quick access.
The wheels are perhaps a bit small although they provide very smooth rolling and are sufficient to easily pull the suitcase over a curb or up steps. They look like aluminum mag wheels - very apparent when the suitcase comes off the luggage...
